I am a Wedding Celebrant, not a Registrar so I can’t marry you legally. Before the day, you will need to have your marriage legally registered by a Registrar, in front of two witnesses, at a Registry Office or Approved Venue. You will need to say the statutory wording and sign the marriage register. The three steps that make up a Civil Marriage/Civil Partnership are:
1. Declaration words: I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I (your name) may not be joined in matrimony to (partner’s name)
2. Contracting words: I call up these persons here present to witness that I (your name) do take thee (partner’s name) to be my lawful wedded wife (or husband)
3. Signing of the marriage register and the issuing of the marriage certificate.
Check with your local Registrar to see when they are available and for further information.
It's a lovely ceremony to have if you are celebrating a special anniversary together, or simply a time in your lives, when you feel that you want to tell your partner again that they are still the most important person in your life and will be forever.
It can be intimate and special with just the two of you celebrating your love for each other, or with family and friends.
Traditionally this was done as a christening but now naming ceremonies are often done by choice in their place. Naming ceremonies can be conducted anywhere where the family wish to gather and can be done at any age.
Having a naming ceremony really allows you to choose the perfect words and location for what will be a truly special and memorable occasion.
